I am a independent 3rd Year Film student who has one shot at making a High-End Television Pilot and this is what I came up with.
I started this blog as a marketing and development platform to complete the necessary post-production funding required to make this picture the best it could possibly be.
Currently I am still in need of $ 2,500USD to pay for the lead actors, Art Department materials and post-production requirements necessary to make it as real as possible. My Gear and Crew has been taken care of.
This letter serves to inform all possible contributors, collaborators, investors, distributors and industry professionals about my Vision and Mission and how you can help to realize my Dream. We need all the help we can get and I believe in this project more than anything else. If you can give me one valid reason why this concept won’t work then I would gladly stop dead in my tracks.
My intention with the series I wish to produce is to address our greatest socio-economic, socio-political and ecological conservation threats we are facing as a South African Nation. I plan on doing this through the most powerful medium known to man: Film and Television.
Everyday we have to sit back and see how our natural resources are stripped away from us. Many many efforts have been made by the public and private organizations to stop this and many documentaries have been produced. Yet, very little change has occurred. In fact, the statistics just keep snowballing and it's heading for one disastrous future.
So, I thought that it would be a great idea to develop a Fictional Crime Drama Television Series which can communicate these issues to a wider global audience and bring more awareness to the table. This way it is safer and you have more creative control to tell the story and get the message across as opposed to shooting a documentary. The concept is also adaptable for feature films and novelizations too.
So what exactly gives my project the power to go Global?
The fact that it is a Unique High Concept Production with Universal Appeal. I have some of the best Talent in South Africa attached to my project who also has enough International Screen time to qualify for international markets.
The nature of the story also creates opportunity for foreign Talent to join our project and make it even more eligible for a global audience. I have built up a vast network in the industry and I'm also associated with the only International Film Sales Agent in South Africa: Pathlight Pictures.
This blog is Paypal integrated which is a safe and secure method of transferring funds. The idea is to follow the same guidelines and platform as crowdfunding initiatives.
The reason why I decided to host my own independent crowdfunding site is because I had many setbacks in the development stage and ran out of time to go via the normal crowdfunding routes.
Any contributions made through this site is seen as contributions towards our project and is non-refundable.
